VALCOM COMPUTER CENTER Abacus Computers Inc. dba ValCom Computer Center (ValCom) is a corporation started in November 1982. The computer store is located on the ground floor (eastern side) of the ClayDesta Center at the northwest corner of Big Spring and Wadley streets. The address is 6 Desta Drive, Suite 1350, Midland, TX 79705. The primary business functions are sales, service, network support, and rentals of personal computers. Products include computers, printers, peripherals, software, and supplies. The company also sells fax machines, digital cameras and personal digital assistants, and sells and rents LCD display projectors. The staff consists of 22 employees. Six persons are in primary selling roles, five are in service, and four are in systems engineering/network support. With average annual revenue in excess of $10 million, ValCom is thought to be the largest computer dealer in West Texas. The company’s main customers are large, medium and small businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies. PRODUCT LINES ValCom is an authorized dealer and service center for Hewlett Packard/Compaq, IBM, Toshiba, Panasonic, Epson, Lexmark and Okidata, and a dealer for Cisco, Nortel Networks, Cabletron/Enterasys, 3-Com, Fortinet, Intel, Tektronix/Xerox, NEC, Viewsonic and other hardware vendors. ValCom is a Compaq Certified Education Partner. The company is authorized for leading software vendors including Microsoft, Novell, IBM/Lotus, Corel, Borland, Symantec, Oracle and Attachmate. ValCom has one Novell Certified Netware Engineer, three Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers, and a Cisco Engineer. ValCom is also a Compaq Authorized Enterprise Reseller for storage area networks (SAN). EDUCATION/GOVERNMENT PRICING ValCom is an HP/Compaq Certified Education Partner and can offer special contracts to schools. As a Microsoft Authorized Education Reseller, we can sell academic-priced box products, open licenses and school/campus agreements. We are also an IBM/Lotus Passport Advantage dealer for campus software contracts.
